Hoops in the Hood is Back!
The Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC) is proud to host the 3rd annual Hoops in the Hood Tournament. For the past two summers, Hoops in the Hood has allowed children in the Back of the Yards neighborhood an alternative summer activity that involves the entire community.
Beginning June 24th, Hoops in the Hood will kick off its annual basketball tournament at the block of 50th Street and Paulina. In the past we have seen local youth from various locations compete for a chance to represent Back of the Yards in the Cross City tournament. Past teams have included: Cornell Square Park, Davis Square Park, St. Michael the Archangel, UNION Impact center, Lara Academy, Holy Cross, and Columbia Explorers.

Hoops in the Hood provides an alternative to the lure of gang involvement. The program serves as a safe outdoor physical activity that promotes a healthy lifestyle by avoiding drugs and encouraging community building.
